Job Outlook Good for New Grads

For the last four years, college graduate hiring has been pretty bleak, but things could be looking up this year.

Phil Gardner, Director of MSU's Collegiate Employment Research Institute, says hiring should go up about 20 percent across the board. That’s from an annual report on recruiting trends, close to 600 employers across the country, throughout different participated.

When looking at bachelor degree graduates, sales and marketing students seem to have the advantage, but all majors can benefit as those two fields are opening up.

Insurance, finance, advertising, and manufacturing still fall behind in the hiring process, but overall the results were positive. Look for active hiring all year long with the most apparent spurts in the late spring and early summer.
