For the nearly 6,500 victims of identity theft in Michigan, lawmakers hope to have some solutions. Both houses passed legislation sponsored by Sen. Valde Garcia (R-Howell) now headed to the Governor's desk. He is confident the Governor will sign the legislation into law.

However, Dr. Judith Collins from the MSU Identity Theft Partnerships in Prevention says while the new laws are long overdue, more needs to be done to help victims. If you think you may have been a victim of ID theft, Dr. Collins may be able to help you free of charge. Call 517-432-7170, or go to www.cj..msu.edu/~outreach/identity.
