Competing with four to eight inches of snow Thursday didn't make for a great start to the day for Michael Haney of Lansing. While waiting for the city's plows to clear the street in front of his house, he shoveled his driveway. Haney says the plows don't come out his way much.
Maybe not immediately after the storm, says Jim Campfield of the city's Operations and Maintenance Department. The city's first priority is the major streets like Cedar and Pennsylvania. When the major streets are clear, the plow drivers hit the side streets.
The City of Lansing hopes to start working on the local side streets sometime Thursday evening or Friday. Once the side streets are clear, the city will get to work on alleys and cul-de-sacs.
