Okemos Public Schools are hosting the second of two public forums. The superintendent says the opinions of parents are vital factor in determining the final outcome of which schools to close.

The district is looking at closing either Wardcliff and Edgewood Elementary schools, or worse case scenario both. This will lighten the budget crunch for next year.

Projections show the district may lose between 71 and 96 students, leaving Okemos close to $2 million in the red. The superintendent says the district picked these two schools because they have two classes per grade, unlike the others who have at least three grades.

The district will save about $800,000 by closing one of the two schools.
