Legislation that would have removed some of the fatty foods from school cafeterias is dead.
Lansing Senator Virgil Benero tells News Ten that he has failed to move a bill ordering Michigan schools to remove fat-fast foods from their school lunch programs and replace them with healthier items.
Benero blames Senator Wayne Kuipers with blocking the measure. Kuipers says the food issue is better left to each individual school board to decide. But he does say if there is no action at the local level, his education committee could take up Benero's measure in the new year.
