Weeks ago the Capital Area Transportation Authority signs a 6 month fuel agreement that's 53 cents per gallon more expensive then their last deal. However, CATA says the cost could have been much worse.
Diesel is one of several costs that goes into CATA operations.
The consumer cost of diesel at some area locations is $2.29 per gallon. CATA, who does not pay taxes on their diesel per gallon signed a six month deal for $1.60.
Their former deal was for $1.07, but say CATA officials if they did not lock in the recent rate they would be paying over $1.90 per gallon.
A savings of thousands per month.
