Violent crime rates dropped in Michigan in 2003, the state police said Thursday.
Murder dropped 9 percent last year compared to 2002, according to the Michigan State Police Uniform Crime Report.
Violent crime, which includes murder, rape, aggravated assault and robbery was down 5.31 percent.
Not all crime rates decreased Motor vehicle theft increased nearly eight percent last year.
The Uniform Crime Report is the state police's annual analysis of crime data submitted by law enforcement agencies throughout the state.
