Peter McPherson isn't severing all ties with Michigan State University.
The outgoing president will continue trying to land a billion dollar nuclear research facility for the school. He'll also volunteer on agriculture projects and promote study-abroad programs for American students.
The 64-year-old McPherson is stepping down at the end of the year, after eleven years. He's moving to northern Virginia near Washington, D.C.
McPherson spent six months in Iraq last year as financial coordinator. He helped create a new currency and establish a central bank after the American invasion.
Some have speculated that McPherson could be a contender for a position in the new Bush Administration.
