Traffic Calming Plan Postponed

The city of Lansing says they are more then $220,000 short of funding traffic calming projects that it promised it citizens.

Council members aren't sure why the shortfall is happening.

A city finance official says the projects weren't a budget priority, were more expensive then planned and a "disconnect" in project requests and available funds are postponing the work.

Traffic calming includes traffic islands and roundabouts that help to slow cars in and around neighborhoods.

9 projects are currently unfunded.
