Levon Tarele Pate, 18, hobbled into the Eaton County District Courtroom Wednesday afternoon to hear the 16 counts against him. Pate, suffering from a gunshot wound himself, was charged for his alleged role in Sunday nights shooting at the Red Robin restaurant in Delta Township in which a pregnant waitress was held hostage at gunpoint and later shot and wounded.

Pate is charged with five counts of assault with intent to commit murder, seven counts of felony firearm possession, one count of kidnapping, one count of intent to deliver a controlled substance, one count of firearm discharge in or at a building and one count of firearms possession by a felon. Pate has a prior felony record, in Ingham County, including two counts of carrying a concealed weapon and one felony drug charge.

Pate's preliminary examination will be held October 29. He's currently being held at the Eaton County Jail on a $1,000,000 cash surety bond.
