With the originals lost in the mail, East Lansing election officials have reissued 253 absentee ballots.
The city clerk says five bins of ballots taken to the city post office on October fifth were never delivered.
Postal officials don't know where they are but they say the new ballots have been processed and should get to voters in two to three days.
A spokeswoman for the Secretary of State's office say the lost ballots are an isolated incident.
