Sgt. Taylor with the MSU Police tells News Ten a report of a sexual assault was made to the department on Thursday, the eleventh report of sexual assault for the campus since classes began about two months ago and the third in the last week.
The incident is alleged to have taken place sometime Thursday morning in the Mayo residence hall. That afternoon the directors of student housing and residence life sent an e-mail informing students in the West Circle area of campus about the alleged assault.
Later that night, impromptu meetings were held in residence halls all over campus for students to ask questions of complex directors and hall advisors. Students are urged to be self-aware and walk in groups while at night.
This latest report of sexual assault is still under investigation, but what is known is that penetration was involved, a suspect has been identified and the victim knew her attacker.
