Workers Approve BWL Contract

By a vote of more then two to one, Lansing workers approve a Lansing Board of Water and Light (BWL) work contract.

The contract is a three-year agreement that must be voted on by the BWL commissioners.

Terms of the deal include a 2.5 percent pay increase in the first year (retroactive to November 1, 2003), a three percent increase in the second year, and a 3.1 percent increase in the third year.

A spokesperson for the Board of Water and Light says they're delighted on the vote and believe it's fair to both the workers and their customers.
