One out of five Americans has some kind of disability. Tuesday, students at MSU educated other students to hopefully reduce the fear they say still surrounds disabilities.
Disabilities were simulated by having students try to open a bathroom door while in a wheelchair. Glasses were also used to show the difficulty of reading a sign with impaired vision.
Organizers say the simulation is not to show people how it would feel to live with a disability, but to show how much easier accommodations such as automatic doors can make living with one.
