Hurricane Lili might affect Michigan weather patterns. Climatologists say moisture from the hurricane may travels towards the state.
They also say as the moisture settles here in Mid-Michigan, residents will see more rain in the next few days.
Hurricanes do not occur in Michigan because there is no warm water source for the storm to use as a source of energy. Hurricanes are known for their powerful winds, but other factors like the rise in ocean water and heavy precipitation play a larger role in causing hurricane damage.
Climatologists say mid-Michigan is not safe from other meteorological events like thunderstorms.
They say thunderstorms can cause just as much devastation across the state.
