Mandatory IDs Arrive at Eastern High

Starting Monday, Eastern High school students must wear picture ID badges. "This is to help everybody. It's not a penalty to punish anyone. It's to protect them," says Pamela Diggs principal at Eastern High.

The mandatory badge policy comes just weeks after a student was badly beaten on school property by a trespasser. Administrators are hoping the picture IDs will help weed out strangers from students.

If a badge is lost, students will be fined $1 to $10 for replacements. Students absent on the day pictures for the badges were taken were issued temporary passes. Principal Diggs says all 1500 Eastern students should have badges by the first week in November.
