No Vote-Buying Charges for Michael Moore

Michael Moore can keep handing out underwear without fear of going to jail, at least in Michigan.

The author-filmmaker from Flint has been trying to get so-called slackers to register and vote by offering them clean underwear and ramen noodles at rallies around the nation.

On Tuesday, the Michigan Republican Party asked prosecutors in our counties to charge Moore with violating election law. The GOP hasn't made much headway.

Prosecutors in Isabella, Ingham and Antrim counties say no action is warranted.

The Wayne County prosecutor's office says Attorney General Mike Cox should handle election law violations. A spokesman for Republican Cox says his office hasn't heard from the GOP.
