The state health department has confirmed the first two cases of influenza this season. This comes one day after learning the nation will face the largest shortage at the start of this flu season.
Dr. Dean Sienko of the Ingham County Health Department says they'll be short by 5,000 doses. All county health departments and private physicians will be following new guidelines to be issued by the CDC.
Dr. Sienko says only high-risk patients will be able to get the shot.

The county has cancelled public flu shot clinics and workplace flu shot programs. They will be working to get those at high risk immunized. They ask that everyone be cooperative with the situation this year.
