An independent study released by Soil and Materials Engineers, Inc. says that there is no air quality hazard at MacDonald Middle School.

The report was commissioned by the East Lansing School District due to concerns about the construction raising health issues at the school.

In June asbestos was removed from the building adding to community concerns.

Students protested in part due to the construction situation.

The district will spend more than $13 million on the school, and expects the building to be finished by the spring of 2004.
