Members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints along with the Universalist Church of Greater Lansing cleaned approximately 2,500 bricks that were left from a church fire in June.
The fire destroyed The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in East Lansing in June and was later ruled an arson by local authorities.
The community hopes to strip the bricks of their mortar as they prepare to redistribute the bricks into a platform for the new church’s flagpole.
Church officials hope to begin construction of the new church were the old one existed, sometime in October.
