Genevieve Humenay and Michelle Johnson were frustrated by information that 20 precincts in Lansing had less than half of their registered voters turn out in the presidential election four years ago, so they did something about it.
That something is Lansing Voters Matter--a non-partisan group that goes door-to-door, registering voters who aren't registered, and making sure those who are, are going to turn out. In their canvassing, they tell people about the logistics of voting to make the process less intimidating. They are also building a foot army of volunteers to remind neighbors and friends to vote when November 2nd comes.
