The City of East Lansing offered help to small businesses as they approved their small business rental assistance program. The program offers to help some small businesses with high rent costs in the area.
The program would pay as much as $10,000 towards rent, for business that qualify.
The city admits, however, the details of the program need to be finalized.
Some business in the downtown area say they’ve lost between 10 and 15 percent in profits over the last three years. While some sight high rent costs, others say the poor economy and past construction played major factors.
