Charlotte police officer Kevin Venton has patrolled Bennett Park for more than a year. Last Friday night, he decided to go a few hours early. It could have saved a life.

"I went into the bathroom and found a baby!"

A white boy, less than a week old, had been abandoned in a bathroom stall.

Charlotte Police say they have no leads or suspects. However, they do think the baby was likely abandoned by a young mom, probably someone who lives in the area.

If you have any information or were at the park that day, contact the police department at (517) 543-1552. Callers can remain anonymous.

The baby is in a foster home and is doing well.
