It has been an emotional day for hundreds of men and women in Michigan as they were officially sworn in as America's newest citizens.
The group gathered at Lansing Community College's Dart Auditorium Monday for the ceremony hosted by Congressman Mike Rogers. Rogers says he wants to remind the new citizens that they are fortunate to be called American's and America is fortunate to have them.
Mirko Maric, former Yugoslovian, has been living in Grand Rapids with his family for five years and now he finally can call it home. Maric says he has everything that is important now, his country, freedom and friends. Maric's wife and children weren't able to go to the ceremony so co-workers took the day off and surprised him after he was sworn in.
