President Bush is condemning the beheading of American hostage Eugene Armstrong, who grew up in Hillsdale.

Bush tells interim Iraqi Prime Minister Ayad Allawi that, “We will not allow these thugs and terrorists to decide your fate and decide my fate.”

The president met with the Iraqi leader during an annual gathering of the United Nations General Assembly. He says the United States expressed “heartfelt condolences” to Armstrong's family.
