Governor Jennifer Granholm says she is not raising property taxes with a plan to accelerate the collection of summer taxes next year. Instead, she argues she is trying to save some $182 million in revenue sharing cuts to protect public safety services.
However Sen. Nancy Cassis (R-Oakland County) says this plan will affect every tax payer. She calls it a "tax shift-shaft" that is a tax hike.
The governor calls Cassis a demagogue and says she "doesn't know how to add."
