Already approved by the senate, a new bill would have property owners paying some of their property taxes in July rather than December starting in 2005. The portion of taxes paid would only be those which are for that county's millage.
The Igham County Treasurer says a property owner would pay about $9 more than what they would normally be paying.
Jack McHugh, with the Mackinac Center, a conservative research group, says a person who pays $100,000 annually, would be out $42,000 by 2007.
The house is expected to vote on the issue this Wednesday.
