Utilities Costs Rise for New Homes in E. Lansing

By  |

The East Lansing City Council approves an ordinance to raise the costs of connecting to water and sewer lines for new homes in E. Lansing. That may increase the prices of new homes in the area, but only slightly.

For a single family newly built home the water and sewer one time connections amount to nearly $1,500. After the ordinance was approved that amount increased to just over $1,900.

That means a jump of $440 for single family homes.

The city says the revenue from the utility hike is very slim and will only pay for the costs of connecting those services.

Current homeowners are not effected.
