CHARLOTTE, Mich. (AP) -- Officials say more than 500 voters in the Lansing-area community of Charlotte were mailed absentee ballots for the Nov. 6 election with return envelopes addressed to a suburban Detroit clerk's office.
The Detroit News reports Charlotte officials learned of the mistake over the weekend following complaints posted on the city's Facebook page from someone who received one of the 505 envelopes. Officials say a supplier mistakenly printed an address for Oakland County's West Bloomfield Township.
The clerk's office in West Bloomfield Township says it hasn't received any absentee ballots from Charlotte, but is prepared to forward them along just in case.
In Charlotte, those who were sent absentee ballots with incorrect return envelopes will get a letter explaining the mistake. Other ballots got the correct return address.
