As Americans adopt more environmentally-friendly habits, many American companies are following suit - and finding that greener policies can also mean a healthier bottom line.
Businesses used to believe they had to choose between "greens" - profits vs. eco-friendly business practices. But some corporations have discovered that greener habits can conserve the environment - as well as their budgets. And that can also mean savings for the consumer.
DAVE HAFT: "What I would tell you is in Frito Lay, when we think about a facilities environmental impact we're looking at reducing our water use, electricity use and the use of natural gas. Being a green company is good for business and it's good for the environment."
And recycling materials can also reduce costs. Between 2004 and 2006 IBM quadrupled the amount of recycled plastic in their new computers - reducing the environmental impact - of producing new plastics while avoiding increased cost.
As these companies see higher profits from "going green", others will follow suit.
