Thinking of buying a more fuel-efficient vehicle? Imagine if you have thousands to buy. Some companies are taking real steps toward making their commercial fleet vehicles more environmentally friendly.

In their effort to become the most fuel efficient fleet in the country, Frito Lay has added 650 hybrids to its sales fleet, as well as adopting better aerodynamics and idling technology on their delivery trucks to reduce the amount of gas they use.

And Bright Automotive recently unveiled the world's first 100 MPG vehicle aimed at commercial and government fleets. Its name? The IDEA. The company plans to produce 50,000 of the multi-use vehicles per year by 2013. Their aim is to provide businesses and government agencies with a durable, eco-friendly vehicle, while creating thousands of American jobs.

The IDEA's electric motor has a 30-mile range. After the battery is drained, its four-cylinder engine kicks in. A typical delivery van that drives 50 to 70 miles a day will use less than a gallon of gas daily.
