Replacing Electric Grids Means Jobs

Efforts could put 300,000 people work.

Instead of a fuel tank door and gas cap, the WF-120 has a plug that can be charged using any standard 120 volt AC wall socket.

President Obama has pledged $150 billion over the next decade to combat climate change and create green jobs. Modernizing our national electricity system with a smart grid is at the center of those efforts.

A smart grid delivers electricity to you from utilities using technology that saves energy, cuts costs and is more reliable.

Van Jones, presidential green advisor: "We only have one problem in the country. It looks like we got a bunch, we only got one. We have not connected our clean energy power centers to our population centers. We have a Saudi Arabia of wind energy in the Plain States. We have a Saudi Arabia of sun energy in the Sun Belt and on millions of rooftops across America…if you connect our clean energy power centers to our population centers, you could run the country largely on clean energy."

A Smart Grid Jobs Report released in January*, estimates nearly 300,000 new jobs can be created just from installing smart grid technologies. The stimulus package will help. It provides $100 million to train smart electricity grid workers.
