Don't Toss Those Shoe Laces

After your old tennis or running shoes have run their course, did you know you can keep the shoe laces and recycle them for several uses? Now make sure you clean them first with eco-friendly detergent of course.

You can color dye the shoe laces, braid them and have a new hair accessory for pony tails or head bands. If your table cloth doesn't fit just so, tie it with shoe laces on all four corners of the bottom of the legs. Puff it out so the laces do not show and you have an instant remedy of a fitted tablecloth.

Make holiday garlands out of your old shoe laces by adding beads or stringing ornaments to them and hang them on your tree. You can even use it as ribbon to wrap presents, just add colorful beads to dress them up.

You can also create a fun toy for your pet - just add a jingle bell or two to them and viola! A toy to entertain your furry friend.

Now that you've figured out some ways to reuse shoelaces, don't just throw those used shoes out. Donate them to charity, and make someone less fortunate happy to walk a mile in your shoes. is happy to provide a forum for commenting and discussion. Please respect and abide by the house rules:
