This Valentine's Day, keep green in mind for your sweetie when planning your romantic day from start to finish. Begin the day with a cup of coffee from Larry's Beans, a North Carolina company that uses passive-solar energy and wind-powered vents to help roast its beans. And here are few other green ideas…

Give your honey an original Valentine card using cut-outs from a magazine, then offer up a fun surprise, like a rendezvous at the zoo or park. Or donate to your lover's animal charity in honor of St. Valentine such as ASPCA, Humane Society or Farm Sanctuary.

Pack a picnic lunch for in or outdoor and be sure to bring fresh organic fruits from your Farmers Market. You can also order yummy organic chocolate desserts from Green & Black, Endangered Species or Dagoba.

Instead of a dozen, present your beloved with a single stem from an organic grower such as Organic Bouquet and Diamond Organics. Make a delicious meal from organic ingredients and unwind with organic champagne or Biodynamic wine.

To end your romantic day, save energy by lighting non-pollutant candles made of Soy or Beeswax which actually burn cleaner. is happy to provide a forum for commenting and discussion. Please respect and abide by the house rules:
