One of the things that makes our country so dynamic is the ability to have our voices heard. Whether by online blogging, talking with friends and neighbors or casting votes, it all has to do with choice. And when it comes to the environment, personal choices matter a lot.

In order to help stop climate change, we need to encourage leaders to implement policies and pass laws that promote renewable energy and support energy efficiency. You can make your voice heard by writing your elected officials or by supporting companies who are committed to making real change to help reduce their environmental impact.

In addition to making our voices heard, we can make climate-friendly choices in our personal lives, like buying energy efficient appliances with the Energy Star label, switching to electricity generated by renewable energy like wind and solar, or choosing alternative transportation like walking, biking or bussing.

When it comes to reducing our own contribution to global warming, it comes down to two things: choice and voice. We can choose to do something about it, and tell our friends and elected leaders what we're doing, to lead by example. is happy to provide a forum for commenting and discussion.
