Regular exercise helps your mind stay focused and your body fit and healthy. Now what if you could maintain a healthy waistline and also keep your environment "fit" ? Well you can, and here's how.

While gyms offer convenient workout facilities, they also require a lot of energy. So consider exercising outdoors instead of on a treadmill. You can also find ways to tone muscles around the house by doing brisk housecleaning or lifting yard waste or groceries.

Another earth-friendly idea: Find shirts and pants made of recycled cotton, or shop for exercise clothing at a second-hand store. Want to walk a mile in someone else's shoes? Look for shoes made from recycled materials that come in cardboard boxes made from recycled content.

Of course drinking plenty of water is important when working out. But afterwards, consider limiting your showers. They can use up to 25 gallons every five minutes.

If you think about recycling and conserving water as part of your exercise program, it might just take your mind off your workout and you'll be fit and help the environment in no time.
