Haslett's Bill Mory birdied his first two holes Thursday morning, then finished with a 4 over par 74 in the first round of the U. S. Senior Open golf championship. It is being played at the Indianwood course in Lake Orion. Mory started on holes ten and eleven and shot 34 on his first nine, the back nine of the course. But five bogeys in a six hole stretch tainted his round. He is currently in 100th place and will have to score much lower Friday to make the cut from the beginning field of 156. Tom Kite held the early first round lead after a five under par 65. Mory goes off #1 tee Friday at 2:10pm.
