The man who escaped from a prison in Ionia on Super Bowl Sunday will be going to trial for what happened during the 24 hours he was out.
Michael Elliot waived his preliminary exam for escape, carjacking, and kidnapping charges today. Police say after he escaped from prison, he carjacked a woman and made her drive him to Indiana, where she eventually got out when they stopped for gas.
Elliot is already serving multiple life sentences for a 1993 shooting, which he says he did not commit.
