LANSING, Mich. (AP) -- State officials say 13 deals have been signed under a new law offering lucrative incentives to filmmakers to bring their projects to Michigan.
Gov. Jennifer Granholm signed legislation last month aimed at giving the state a bigger role in the film industry. Michigan is competing with more than 35 other states for movie business.
Treasury spokesman Terry Stanton told the Detroit Free Press for a story Saturday that total Michigan production costs from the projects are estimated at more than $100 million. Stanton says the state government will rebate about $39 million if the work is completed.
State film office Director Janet Lockwood says the signed agreements don't guarantee that all the projects will be produced.

is anyone making a film on how hard times are getting for people.the proverty it is causing ect.mich is a perfect example for these films.empty homes and bussinesses everywhere.alot of homes are becomming run down due to peoples lack of money.many towns don't see the streets crowed after work.people can only go home.big cities may see more action, but the small town, villiages, and so many areas look dead.but if they film on gov land for the out doors type movies the gov will make money.they won't need to supply people to play the homeless ones,we have so many.and if they want crime movies just go to detroit,it's so high in crime in the nations top list.there no big tourist attractions to make movies using them scenes.they say we have alot of haunted places in mich.then the american Indians were here to.then the great lakes.so much of that property is private though.money will be made but it won't put thousands to work, thats really mich problem.JOBS AND MORE JOBS.
