Comedian and actor Tim Allen is adding a new title to his resume: director.
The 56-year-old who spent his formative years in Michigan is returning home on Thursday night to perform some standup comedy before previewing his directorial debut.
Allen is scheduled to appear in the Detroit suburb of Birmingham for a screening of his new comedy "Crazy on the Outside." It's part of Allen's "Stand Up and Show It" tour.
Tickets to the Birmingham stop are not for sale and only are available to the public through media contests.
In each city, Allen performs standup before showing the movie.
"Crazy on the Outside" stars Allen, Sigourney Weaver, Ray Liotta, Julie Bowen and Kelsey Grammer and opens Jan. 8.
