LANSING, Mich. (WILX) - Mike Sadler was a kicker for the Michigan State Spartans from 2011-2014 and was killed in a car crash in 2016.

Mike Sadler Night at the Lansing Lugnuts will honor the kicker's memory.

The Lugnuts are partnering with the Mike Sadler Foundation to host the event on May 3.

“We are proud to partner with the Michael Sadler Foundation and Michigan State University, coming together on a special night to remember a special man,” said Lugnuts team president Nick Grueser.

The giveaway that night at the Cooley Law School Stadium will be a special Spartan-green Lugnuts jersey for the first 1,000 fans through the gates. The jersey will have Sadler's number three on the back.

There will also be a silent auction with Spartans and Lugnuts memorabilia with all proceeds benefiting the Michael Sadler Foundation.

"We’re thrilled that the Lansing Lugnuts have chosen to honor Mike at this game,” said Mike’s mother, Karen Sadler. “He played baseball as a kid and loved to catch a Lugnuts game whenever he could."
