KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WILX) - A large tree was blown over and fell on an ice cream truck in Kalamazoo Saturday, pinning the driver and knocking down two of his customers.

According to the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety, the incident happened around 5:30 p.m. on Springmont Avenue near Barnard Avenue.

KDPS says the driver was getting ice cream from the cooler in the back of the truck when he was pinned inside.

He was later able to free himself.

Two girls outside the truck on the passenger side, were also knocked down by the tree.

All three sustained only minor injuries.

The tree also pulled down power lines, knocking out power to homes in the area.

KDPS said Consumers Energy was working to restore service to the homes.
