LANSING, Mich. (WILX) As the weather gets colder, local doctors are seeing more patients with everything from strep throat to ear infections.
But Nurse Practitioner Linda Bowers with McLaren Greater Lansing says the most common reason for a doctor's visit right now is bronchitis.
Bronchitis is the swelling of the tubes that carry air to and from our lungs. Symptoms include a cough, shortness of breath, wheezing, fatigue, and discomfort in the chest.
Treating bronchitis is similar to treating asthma. Using a bronchodilator or inhaling corticosterioids are some of the most common options. A humidifier or steam may also help.
To prevent bronchitis, Nurse Practitioner Bowers recommends washing your sheets in hot water, washing your hands, and dusting and vacuuming your home on a regular basis.
