EAST LANSING, Mich. (WILX) -- A 27-year-old Lansing man is dead as the result of a crash caused by a hit and run driver on northbound US 127 near Trowbridge Road in East Lansing.
Friday Police released the name of the 27-year-old. He is David James Crissey, a Lansing resident.
East Lansing Police responded a hit and run call and arrived at the scene of a crash on northbound US 127 just south of the Trowbridge Road exit shortly after 8:00 PM on Thursday, August 10, 2017.
When officers got to the crash site, they found a vehicle had rolled over and four people were pinned in. East Lansing Fire Department extricated the passengers from the vehicle. Two of the passengers had life-threatening injuries, and were taken to a hospital for treatment. There was also a very young infant in the vehicle. The child was strapped into a car seat and did not have any obvious injuries. The baby was taken to the hospital to be checked out.
The driver of the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene.
The other driver fled the scene. That person was stopped and located near the intersection of Waverly and I-496. The driver was transported to the hospital for minor injuries.
The Ingham Regional Crash Team assisted with the investigation of the accident. It remains under investigation. No cause has been determined at this point, and the investigation will continue over the next few days.
US 127 northbound was closed for more than four hours while emergency crews responded to the scene. The highway is now back open.
