Study: Fatal overdoses more than doubled since 1999

America's opioid epidemic appears to be getting worse, as more Americans are dying from drug overdose.

A new government study shows the rate of drug overdose deaths was two and a half times higher in 2015 than in 1999.

The percentage of deaths involving heroin tripled.

The largest increase in overdose deaths were among white people and adults between 55 and 64 years old.
