Rare Virus Transmitted by Rats

A rare virus transmitted by rats is being investigated by federal health officials. It's called Seoul Virus.
The C.D.C. has notified health officials in a dozen states about the virus, which has infected eight people in Illinois and Wisconsin
The infected rats came from a breeding facility in Wisconsin where the owner was hospitalized with Seoul virus.
The rats were distributed to several states. Michigan is believed to be among them.
The C.D.C. says this is the first known outbreak associated with pet rats in the U.S.
Most cases involved wild rats found in Asia.
