A police situation near Jackson High School caused the school to activate an external lock down.

Principal Barbara Baird-Pauli says the Jackson Police department notified the school shortly before 1:00 PM on Thursday, February 16, 2017 that there was a police situation in close proximity to the school.

The school initiated an external lock down while police investigated the situation. The school locked all external and internal doors, and didn't allow exit or entry from the building while the lock down was in place. The school says that the school continued with its regular daily schedule while the lock down was in place.

The school notified parents of the lock down via their automated system.

The lock down was lifted around 1:20 PM.
