Pill receptacles net nearly 900 pounds of drugs

LANSING (WILX) Nearly 900 pounds of prescription drugs are off the streets since last September, thanks to pill receptacles places throughout Mid-Michigan.

The Ingham County Sheriff's Office placed the drug takeback bins in the lobbies of various Lansing area police departments, high school football games, and local businesses.

"This is one of many ways local law enforcement is battling this opiate epidemic," said the Sheriff's Office in a press release.

The ICSO collects the pills from all participating county police agencies twice a year.
