People allergic to eggs, safe to get flu vaccine

(WILX) - New guidelines say it's safe for people with egg allergies to get the flu vaccine.

For many years people who have egg allergies have been warned not to get the flu vaccine because it has traces of egg protein.

However, now the Joint Task Force On Practice Parameters says that people with egg allergies don't need to take special precautions.

Studies from the task force show that getting a flu shot is not riskier for people who have egg allergies than people who don't.
