Northern Michigan authorities have identified the man whose body was discovered more than a month ago in a heavy coat in Lake Michigan.
The Traverse City Record-Eagle reports Wednesday the 67-year-old man died of an apparent suicide.
The Leelanau county sheriff's office says the victim is 67-year-old Marcus Adams--- originally from the United Kingdom.
He had been living in Washington D.C....and was reported missing by a friend there on July 20th.
D.C. detectives eventually contacted the sheriff's office... and through dental records,, were finally able to positively identify him.
The investigation found Adams had sent suicide letters to friends in Oregon.
Police say Adams was staying at a resort in Ludington and rented a dingy-- telling people he was going to explore the shoreline.
He has no known relatives in the U.S.... and efforts are underway to find family abroad.
